Clinic Synopsis:

Teaching enhancement in-service sessions will be offered to educators. They will gain insights on how the vocational and disciplinary aspects of music can be implemented into music education teaching strategy.

David R. Sears - Biographical Information

David R. Sears is the Executive Education Director of the GRAMMY Museum Foundation where he leads the team that creates and directs its educational philosophy and programs nationally. These programs provide grants for school music teachers (k-college) & Public High School Music Programs. There are also programs for high school students interested in Jazz as well as music industry careers. His professional background includes being a music educator for many years including being one of the founders of a cutting edge music magnet high school in Los Angeles. Some of his former students are working or have worked with Dr. Dre, Kurt Elling, Green Day, Alicia Keys, Gladys Knight, Mary Mary, Paul McCartney, Ozomatli, Sting, Kanye West, Stevie Wonder and more. He is also a music professional (composer/arranger, producer, engineer, conductor, performer) having worked with Harry Belafonte, Jeff Beck, Coolio, Foo Fighters, David Foster, Andy Griffith, James Jamerson, Quincy Jones, Danny Kaye, Dave Koz, Rickey Minor, Horace Silver, Esperanza Spalding, The Temptations, Kirk Whalum, Gerald Wilson, Jonathan Winters & many more. David has presented at Conferences and conventions across the country including (Midwest Clinic, Texas Music Educators Association [TMEA], California Music Educators Association [CMEA], National Association for Music Education [NAfME], Florida Music Educators Association, Jazz Education Network [JEN], Audio Engineering Society [AES], National Association of Music Merchants [NAMM] and, dozens of Universities, Middle & High Schools as a clinician or guest conductor.
