Congratulations to all the performers! Here, we share some of their reactions to being invited to appear at The 2010 Midwest Clinic.

"‘On behalf of the Board of Directors, it is my pleasure to invite you to present a concert at the 2010 Midwest Clinic.’ What would your reaction be if you opened your email and read that statement? ‘Oh My God!, Oh My God!” was my literal first reaction when I received the email inviting us to present a concert at Midwest Clinic 2010. My wife Liz was teaching a violin lesson in her office. When she heard me, she poked her head in and I told her the news. We cried together for a few minutes and then I had one thought… I’ve got eight months!"
— David Blake, Director, Los Cerritos Middle School Jazz Band, Thousand Oaks, California

"I was very excited, thrilled and honored to be selected. Also, I was so proud of the students who put in the hard work this school year."
— Rodney Whitaker, Director, Michigan State University Jazz Orchestra 1 (Be-Bop Spartans), East Lansing, Michigan

"My staff and I were so excited when we received our invitation. Since it was April Fool's Day, for a moment I thought it was a joke! I soon realized it was very real and was overwhelmed with emotion. When I told my band, I couldn't help but shed tears! What an accomplishment and honor they have received. We look forward to the Midwest Experience!"
— Robert Herrings, Conductor, Henry Middle School Honors Band, Cedar Park, Texas

The Midwest Clinic encourages you to apply to appear at a future conference. Each November, performance applications and clinic proposal forms become available on this website. They are due the following March. Good luck to all the applicants!
