Strategies for the Beginning Music Teacher: Planning for Success

Clinic Synopsis:

This interactive session will engage participants in discussion of development of music teachers and will include research-based suggestions for successful experiences in music education coursework, early fieldwork, and student teaching.

Colleen Conway - Biographical Information

Colleen Conway is Associate Professor of Music Education at The University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She has presented at national and international conferences and is author of more than 50 research papers in all of the major music education journals. Her edited book, Great Beginning for Music Teachers: A Guide to Mentoring and Induction, was released by MENC in October 2003. Also, Handbook for the Beginning Music Teacher by Colleen Conway and Thomas Hodgman was released by GIA Publications in January 2006. And Teaching Music in Higher Education was just released by Oxford University Press in 2008.
