Help, My Students are Into Practicing! Tips and Tricks to Keep the String Students and Teachers Going

Clinic Synopsis:

In this clinic we present different ways to motivate and activate stringstudents. How can we achieve that students ask us the information they need? We look at a large range of tips and tricks, every teacher can use in groupteaching or studioteaching. We also focus on the importance of a good methodoly for the basics of stringplaying.

Dirk Lievens - Biographical Information

Dirk Lievens studied at the Conservatory of Ostend and Ghent and at the Hochschule Köln. He received first price for violin, higher diplome for chambermusic and konzertexam for violin. He was orchestra player for more than 15 years, and is since 20 years first violin of the Arco Baleno chambermusicensemble. He toured with both ensembles in Europe and abroad and won several prices. he played more than 30 recordings as a chambermusicplayer, orchestraplayer and soloist. Dirk teaches also in the conservatories of Ghent and Brussels, where he is a trainer for stringteachers. He is developing a method for violin pupils and - teachers, in which he combines teacher training with a focus of self learning for the violin student. Since 2006 he works as a director of the Academy for Music, Drama and Dance in Roeselare, a school with more than 3000 students.
