Conversation, Questions and Answers With Composer Eric Whitacre

Clinic Synopsis:

This session provides musicians, directors and educators with a chance to discuss music-making, composition and careers in the music business with Grammy-winning composer and conductor Eric Whitacre. Eric will open the session with a short presentation sharing life lessons he’s learned throughout the first three decades of his professional career followed by an opportunity for audience members to pose their questions and continue the conversation.

Eric Whitacre - Biographical Information

Grammy Award-winning composer and conductor, Eric Whitacre, is among today’s most popular musicians. His works are programmed worldwide and his ground-breaking Virtual Choirs have united singers from more than 145 countries over more than a decade. A graduate of Juilliard School of Music, Eric completed his second term as Artist in Residence with the Los Angeles Master Chorale in 2020 having served five years as Composer in Residence at the University of Cambridge. Eric is proud to be a Yamaha Artist. His long-form work The Sacred Veil, a profound meditation on love, life and loss, was premiered by the Los Angeles Master Chorale, and released on Signum Records in 2020. His recent collaboration with Spitfire Audio resulted in a trail-blazing vocal sample library, became an instant best-seller and is used by composers the world-over.  In 2021, Eric launches the Virtual School with its first course “The Beautiful Mess: Masterclass in Composition and Creativity”.
