Tongue-Tied?: A Guide to the Flute Articulation for the Music Educator

Clinic Synopsis:

Flute articulation is rooted deeply in mouth shape, tongue placement, and air support, followed closely by the articulative consonant. This session will deep-dive into these core ingredients, presented through separate step-by-step worksheets for educators and students, with specific emphasis on beginner tongue-strokes, as well as discussion of proper breathing and tone production. Single/compound tonguing will be discussed and exercises will be provided/illustrated through playing examples.
